LONDON: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) said on Thursday that the life of party chief Altaf Hussain is in "serious danger".

In his message to the nation, the MQM chief claimed that fake cases were being framed against him at the international level, but he would not bow before foreign pressure.

Altaf Hussain urged the MQM's coordination committee, elected representatives and workers to remain vigilant as "conspiracies were being hatched against him". He said that attempts had always been made to bring him and the party into disrepute by levelling fabricated allegations.

"I want to inform the entire nation that I have never bowed down my head before forces of evil. I suffered imprisonments and saw death from very near but I continued my mission," he said.

"I want to tell my sympathisers that a new web of conspiracy is being woven around me and various false allegations are being levelled. Not only negative propaganda is being done against me but false allegations are being used to implicate me in various cases. I want to inform the public that I will never bow down my head before any international forces," he added.

Altaf Hussain urged the people to follow his teachings should any harm come to his life. He asked them to continue the struggle instead of letting the conspiracies succeed and ending the movement. He urged them to be ready for sacrifices.

The MQM chief particularly asked the members of the coordination committee, elected representatives and party office-bearers across the country to take serious notice of his statement and follow his teachings. He asked them to discharge their responsibilities efficiently without showing any negligence.

British authorities on Thursday sought help from Pakistan to trace two men suspected to be involved in the murder case of MQM leader Dr Imran Farooq. According to a BBC report, UK authorities formally sent a request to the Pakistan government to locate the suspected men who are believed to be in Pakistan.

End.
