Imran speech not more than a 'joke': Altaf
18 August, 2014
LONDON: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain said on Sunday that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan's speech was no more than joke.
He appealed to PTI and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf to withdraw their ultimatums to the government and remain limited to putting forward their demands. He said that they had exhibited patience and restraint so far and should keep their protests peaceful for the sake of the country.
According to an MQM statement, Altaf paid tribute to the PAT and PTI leaders, office-bearers, workers and supporters for continuing their protests peacefully in bad weather and heavy rains. He also thanked the federal and governments of the Punjab for showing restraint and not using force against the participants of the marches.
Altaf said that there were reports that the police and administration had arrested workers of the protesting political parties and demanded that those workers be released immediately.
End.
