During a hearing on Friday, the girl was granted bail by the court of additional sessions judge against two surety bonds of Rs 500,000. The girl was said to be 14 and her mental age appears below her chronological age and she has been in custody since she was arrested in a poor Islamabad suburb on August 16 after being accused of burning papers containing verses from the holy Quran.

Rimsha's parents have been shifted to an undisclosed location in Islamabad. Many other Christian families also fled the neighbourhood after Rimsha's arrest.
The next hearing of the case will take place on September 16. The additional sessions court has ordered the Islamabad inspector general to appoint an honest superintendent of police for further inquiry of the case.
