LONDON: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief, Altaf Hussain, has said isolating former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf and putting only him on trial for treason is entirely unconstitutional and biased.

"This act smacks of open injustice, oppression, prejudices and poisonous mentality working behind it," Altaf said while talking to the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on phone.

"If the treason case is to progress, then it should be run against every individual who directly, indirectly, overtly or covertly supported General Pervez Musharraf including political and religious leaders, generals, judges, institution or institutions," he said.

Welcoming the recent statement of Chaudhry Shujaat on the treason case instituted against Pervez Musharraf, the MQM chief praised him for his courage and bravery for speaking the truth. He said others must also shun their double-standards and ungratefulness and not only speak the truth but also support the truth.

Altaf said it was sad and unfortunate that people showed ungratefulness and disloyalty towards those who they once fullysupported, received privileges and ministries from - and now hurl abuses. He told Chaudhry Shujaat that he courageously tell the truth and proved that people of character are present even today.

The MQM chief agreed with Chaudhry Shujaat that running treason case only against Pervez Musharraf was wrong. He said it is unfortunate that today Musharraf is being held solely responsible for all the ills and is being victimised. He said the true spirit of justice demands that treason case must not be run against one individual and he must not be victimised or discriminated against.

"We must refrain from hatred, discrimination, oppression and injustice because such acts have led to the dismemberment of the country in the past," he said. The PML-Q chief agreed with Altaf Hussain and said unfortunately hypocrisy, hatred and discrimination has ruined the country.

End.
