British secret agencies launch investigations in Karachi

Information Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Wednesday denied security forces had arrested Haroon Rashid Aswad, a British Muslim believed to be wanted in connection with the July 7 London bombings.

ISLAMABAD, July 21 (Online): Information Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Wednesday denied security forces had arrested Haroon Rashid Aswad, a British Muslim believed to be wanted in connection with the July 7 London bombings.

Asian Wall Street Journal had reported that Haroon Rashid Aswad was detained in Lahore earlier this week by the Pakistani forces.

However the claim was denied by Sheikh Rashid while talking to reporters.

"We have arrested nobody called Haroon Rashid," the minister told Reuters news agency.

Meanwhile, British secret agencies have started proper investigation here to track down the terrorists involving in London bomb blasts.

Sources said that British secret agencies personnel were staying in five-star hotel and the strict security measure have been taken in and outside the hotel.

They said that British secret agencies and Pakistani police would make surprise visits to those Madaris in the city whom they suspected are imparting education about terrorism.

Meanwhile, British secret agents have seized the records of those five-star city hotels where they suspected that alleged suicide bombers Shazad, Tanvir and Sadiq stayed in November 2004.

Sources further said that Pakistani police were also investigation against those four persons who received alleged suicide bombers at Karachi Airport on November 19, 2004.
