MMA not to participate in APC: Liaquat

FAISALABAD, November 07 (Online): The Central Leader of Muttahida Majlis-E-Amal and member National Assembly Liaquat Baloch categorically stated that MMA would never participate in All Parties Conference (APC) or any meeting call by President Pervez Musharaf.

Addressing a Press Conference in Faisalabad the other day, he said that President Pervez Musharaf wants to keep all the powers within himself, which is an undemocratic, that`s why MMA decided not to participate in APC.

Liaquat Baloch said that the intensity of the devastating earthquake rocked the country on 8th October is high as compare to Tsunami. He said that 12 billion dollars were collected for Tsunami but for the quake affectees only 2 billion dollars have been collected so far.

The MMA leader blamed the government hindering the Al-Khidmat Foundation to collect the foreign aid and forcefully donated this money to President Relief Fund.

Liaquat Baloch stated that religious parties participated the relief activities with devotion and provided the best facilities to quake affectees and about 100000 workers of Jamat-e-Islami (JI) are participating in the relief activities.

JI with the cooperation of philanthropists and common people so far distributed the relief aid worth of over 1.5 billion rupees which consisted of food related items, tents, medicines and cash to the affected people, he added. Liaquat Baloch said that over six thousand quake affectees are being under treatment in Islamabad.
