KARACHI, December 03 (Online): The first shipment of 15,950 tons flour of total 50,000 tons flour from the Turkish Government for the earthquake affectees, arrived early this week here at Karachi Port, said a press statement.
The Prime Minister of Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan had promised 50,000 tons of flour for the earthquake affectees during his 2-day visit to Pakistani in October.
The rest of the flour consignments will arrive at Karachi Port in December 2005. In addition, Turkish Government will also send 750 tones of cooking oil, 250 tones of powder sugar and 8 tones of blankets together with the flour.
Turkish Red Crescent is coordinating with Pakistani authorities in transportation and disbursement of sent items.
