ISLAMABAD, February 09 (Online): Pakistan Muslim League President and former PM Ch Shujaat Hussain has said that publication of blasphemous cartoons in Europe is a heinous world conspiracy and if the west does not take notice of the situation than the repercussion of Muslim outrage would be damaging.
Talking to reporters at his residence Ch Shujaat said that the incident has hurt the sentiments of every Muslim and has created a wave of anger amongst the Muslim Ummah. He said it seems that the publication of blasphemous cartoon is part of some global conspiracy to create clash of civilizations.
He warned that if war breaks out than it would be the worst ever war in the human history and those people who are fueling such sentiments would also bear the cost.
Ch Shujaat Hussain said that it is the responsibility of European countries to discourage such incidents as humiliating religious beliefs and sentiments is not allowed in any civilization and is highly inappropriate of a civilized nations.
He said it is strange that the human rights organisation in European countries are keeping mum on the issue and have not raised a single voice against the issue.
He further warned that if western countries do not curtail such incidents than the gulf between civilizations would increase and would give rise to extremists attitude.
End.

Notion of human rights, free speech, accommodation of others who think or believe differently... these things are understood and believed by all the peace loving and rational beings of the world irrespective of their caste or creed. However for promoting peace and love in this global village we must learn to use our Freedom of Expression with responsibility so that it might not cause harm or unrest to our fellow human beings. We will have to develop same standards for all whether these are Jews, Muslims or Christians.
As far as the murder of the innocents is concerned we Muslims condemn it always whether it happens to journalists of the west or to the citizens of Afghanistan and Iraq by foreign troops.

It is apparent that such a "leader" as Hussain is more interested in currying favour amongst the illiterate, emotional masses by fomenting the matter. There is no conspiracy here. Muslims clearly do not understand the notion of human rights, free speech, accommodation of others who think or believe differently. The larger truth revealed in the behaviour of the protestors is that those groups most vical in demanding tolerance from others are usually themselves the least tolerant. Where is your outrage and protest over the killing of innocent journalists, the beheading of innocents, the killing of Muslims by Muslims. You only manage to point out when some western country has offended you in some way whether rational or irrational. The day that Muslims as a group stand up and protest the true injustices in the world perpetuated by their own governments, mullahs, or neighbors, you will have some standing to protest what someone else has done. When someone travels to Pakistan, one is expected to honor the LOCAL customs, laws and expectations of the land. It is preposterous that Muslims should expect to impose their sensibilities on the rest of the world. When was the last time your mullah talked about kindness, temperance, acceptance of other people in the mosque. Posted by Daniel G, Pakistan
