ISLAMABAD: Federal Information Minister Sheikh Rashid on Wednesday strongly condemning the bomb blast at Nishtar Park where the people had congregated to celebrate Eid-e-Milad-un- Nabi (SAW) that claimed more than 53 lives said that terrorists days are numbered and we would soon wipe out terrorist elements operating in the country.
While talking to a private channel, Federal Information Minister Sheikh Rashid termed such blasts as heinous.
He said that the culprits involved in the atrocious blasts would not be allowed to move freely in the country.
He said that Karachi is a very big trade city and such activities demoralizes the trade activities in the city.
He said that it is a terrible incident in which numerous innocent lives were lost.
He said that all kind of assistance would be provided to the injured in the blast.
Federal Information Minister Sheikh Rashid said that President Musharaf has appealed from nation not to lose patience and remain calm in this critical juncture.
He underlined that President Musharraf has said that the perpetrators behind the gruesome blast will be expose soon.
Federal Information Minister Sheikh Rashid said that President has directed Sindh Government to immediately inquire about the tragedy.
The provincial authorities have been instructed to immediately provide all medical care and support to the injured people and affected families whereas special compensation has been announced for the people who died in the blast.
He further added that government is against all kinds of terrorism and the days of such culprits are numbered and will not stay long in the country.
Musharraf, Shaukat condemn bomb blast
President Gen Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz have strongly condemned the bomb blast at Nishtar Park where the people had congregated to celebrate Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) which claimed several lives during the Maghrib prayer.
They expressed deep sorrow and grief over the tragic loss of life.
They talked to Dr, Ishrat-ul-Abad, Governor Sindh and Dr. Ghulam Rahim, Chief Minister Sindh and inquired about the tragedy.
They instructed the provincial authorities to provide immediately all medical care and support to the injured people and affected families.
They also directed the authorities to hold a detailed inquiry to fix the responsibility and the elements that are responsible for the heinous act of crime.
They directed the authorities to beef up the security measures at the Masajids and Imambargahs and ensure safety during the Milad-un-Nabi celebrations across the country.
They said that the perpetrators of such heinous acts of crime have no religion and such elements will not go unpunished.
US, UK, Iran condemn Karachi blast
US and UK have condemned the Karachi Nishtar Park blast in which more than 50 people were killed and over 100 injured and said that they can see no conceivable justification for this atrocity.
US State Department Spokesman Sean McCormack condemning the Karachi blast said, "We are saddened by the news of a bombing at a celebration of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad in Karachi, Pakistan. We strongly condemn this attack and can see no conceivable justification for this atrocity. Our consulate in Karachi ischecking, but thus far, we don’t have any news of any Americans being injured in this terrible incident".
UK Foreign Office Minister Dr Kim Howells also condemning the blast said, "I was horrified to hear of Tuesday 11 April bomb explosion in Karachi, which resulted in the loss of many innocent lives, and injury to many others. It was particularly appalling for this to have occurred on the religious holiday of Eid Milad un Nabi, a day when most of Pakistan was focussed on the messages of peace and harmony espoused by the Prophet Mohammed.
On behalf of the British Government I totally condemn this indiscriminate violence. Our thoughts are with the families and friends of the victims, and with the Government and people of Pakistan, at this time" , he said in a statement issued by the British High Commission in Islamabad.
Iran also strongly condemned the terrorist act in Karachi, Pakistan, which claimed dozens of lives.
"This brutal measure was carried out on the threshold of the birth anniversary of the Great Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) which is a conspiracy by enemies of Islamic nations, Hamid-Reza Asefi, Foreign Ministry spokesman said, IRNA reported.
"Those who regard the dignity, solidarity and strength of the Islamic world as against their own interests intend to cause discord through such brutal crimes," Asefi said.
He expressed his sympathy to families of victims and the Pakistani government.
Soomro, Jamali, Wasim condemn the bomb blast
Chairman Senate Mohammadmian Soomro and Acting Chairman Senate Jan Muhammad Jamali have strongly condemned the bomb blast at Nishtar part in which many precious lives were lost and several persons received injuries and termed it a cowardly act of anti stat elements.
In their separate message of condolence, they prayed to Allah Almighty to shower His blessings on the departed souls in eternal peace and grant patience to the bereaved to bear the great loss with equanimity.
The leader of the house in the senate Wasim Sajjad has also condemned the bomb blast and termed it a terrorist act aimed at creating hatred between different Muslim sects.
He prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in the eternal and patience to the members of the bereaved families to bear the great loss with fortitude.
Security beefed-up after Karachi blast
After the suicide bomb blast in Karachi Tuesday, in which 57 person including 5 religious scholars were killed security has been beefed-up allover the country including twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
The Interior Ministry in this context has issued special directives to concerned authorities and security has been high alert in all the religious seminaries, mosques and important buildings. It is learnt that the security of "Ulemas" has also been stepped up.
The Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Khalid Pervez while talking to this agency said that all possible arrangements have been made in the city to ensure foolproof security.
Police has cordoned-off the area and checking of suspicious persons has begun in the internal and eternal routes of the capital, he added.
He disclosed that close circuit cameras would be installed in all mosques, Imam Bargahs and non-Muslim religious places. He said that no inefficiency would be tolerated in the security arrangements, added that awareness is being imparted to masses to face new challenges like terrorism.
