ISLAMABAD: Defence of Human Rights (women wing) has announced to challenge detention of its chief coordinator Khalid Khawaja in Supreme Court (SC) terming the detention in conflict with law and constitution.
This was announced by Ms Aamna Masood Khawaja, president of Defence of Human Rights women wing while addressing a press conference here in press club Saturday alongwith wife of Khalid Khawaja and his son Huzaifa.
Aamna Masood Janjua alleged that agencies are behind the detention of Khalid Khawaja. False allegations have been leveled against him. It was alleged in FIR that Khalid Khawaja was involved in fomenting terrorism and sectarianism in the country in order to create law and order situation, she pointed out.
Denying this charge she said Khalid Khawaja had never distributed pamphlets aimed at fueling sectarianism. On the other hand he had played historical role for the recovery of missing people against heavy odds.
She went on to say that the a military officer can not be presented in the court in handcuffs. This is an act beyond the law. Government should make public the causes leading to his arrest.
She maintained that the national and international human rights organizations are voicing protest against his arrest.
" We strongly condemn razing of mosques and seminaries by the government, she added. The silence of civil and military authorities over demolition of mosques poses a question mark. Mosques should not be targeted, she demanded.
She warned if Khalid Khawja is not released, country wide protest demonstrations will be staged. |
