ISLAMABAD: Youm-e-Ashur, the 10th of Muharram, was observed with reverence and religious solemnity through out the country including Azad Kashmir amidst tight security.

Tazia, Alam and Zuljinah processions taken out in all cities and towns across the country including Rawalpindi, Lahore, Multan, Sukkur, Rohri, Hyderabad, Karachi and Peshawar, were terminated successfully and Majalis Sham-e-Ghariban were across the country.

In Peshawar, the major procession was taken out from Imam Bargah Agha Syed Ali Shah Rizvi in Kocha Jan Muhammad and terminated at Imam Bargah Syed Mustafa Shah.

The mourners performed Marsaiya-Khwani and Matam while Sabeels were also set up on the route of processions in remembrance of the sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions who laid down their lives for the supremacy of justice and righteousness.

In Kohat, the procession was taken out from Imam Bargah Hussainia in Bannu Bazar and mingled with other processions taken out from Imam Bargah Syed Habib Shah and Qaumi Imam Bargah at Bazaar-Zargaraan Chowk.

In NWFP, the largest procession of Al'm and Zul-Jannah was taken out from Para Chanar and ended at the central Imam Bargah. Special security arrangements were made including the closer of Pak-Afghan border, while processions carrrying Al'm, ZUl-Jannah and Taziyas were also taken out in Mardan, Sawabi, Nowshehra, Char Saddah, Sawat, Kirk and other districts of NWFP.

More than 140 processions were taken out in Multan, which passing through Nishat Road were terminated at Bibi Pak Daman Qabrustan, whereas Ashura processions were also taken in other districts of Punjab, including Gujranwala, Sialkot, Shekhupura, Kasur, Nankana Saheb, and Jehlum.

In Hyderabad, major Ashur procession was taken out by Anjuman-e-Hyderi from Qadmgah-e-Maula Ali and terminated at Karbal Dadan Shah, whereas processions were also taken out in Kotri, Sukkar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Ala Yar, Badin, Tando Bago, Mutyari, Nawabshah, Nowshehro Feroz, Dadu, Larkana, Githki, Thatta, Umer Kot, Tharparkar, and Sanghar.

Major processions and Majalis were being held in all districts of Azad Kashmir, Northern Areas, Balochistan.

Zakirs and religious scholars highlighted the significance of the supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions who laid down their lives for the supremacy of justice and righteousness.

Foolproof security arrangements were ensured across the country to face any situation after series of blasts in various parts of the country.

Additional contingents of security men were also deployed at all major places.
