ISLAMABAD: The U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan, Ryan C. Crocker, handed over on Friday eight night capable Cobra attack helicopters, AH1-F, to the Pakistan Army at the Qasim Airbase, near Islamabad. These helicopters are part of a $ 50 million foreign military sales program that will provide the Pakistan Army with 20 refurbished helicopters.

Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Crocker recounted Pakistan`s contribution to the War on Terror and reaffirmed a long-term and strategic U.S. commitment to Pakistan. "We understand and appreciate the very real sacrifices that Pakistan is making in the War on Terror. The majority of important al Qaeda arrests have occurred because of Pakistan`s cooperation," the Ambassador remarked.

Ambassador Crocker said that Pakistan has posted 80,000 troops to the Afghan border and has killed more than 700 militants in anti-terror operations and has regrettably lost more than 400 brave Pakistanis in actions related to the War on Terror.

These completely refurbished Cobra AH1-F Attack helicopters will provide the Pakistan Army with a superior capability to conduct night operations. The Cobra is a modern and versatile helicopter with a fully integrated weapon system, capable of delivering a variety of weapons. These eight Night Capable (C-NITE Equipped) cobras will augment Pakistan`s current fleet of 19 Cobras previously acquired from the U.S.

The Ambassador said that these helicopters are important weapons in our common fight against terrorism. He said that the U.S. is also committed to Pakistan`s security. The sale of F-16s to Pakistan late last year and the delivery of these Cobra helicopters demonstrate the long-term commitment of the United States to all aspects of our strategic partnership with Pakistan, he added.

Ambassador Crocker reiterated that because the governments of Pakistan and the United States have cooperated closely on counter-terrorism, the U.S. Administration opposed provision in legislation currently in the U.S. Congress that could restrict assistance to Pakistan based on a certification requirement. Such conditionality would be counterproductive to the strategic relationship between the United States and Pakistan, he added.

End.

Its very surprising that why not Qazi Hussian Ahmad and Moulana Fazal Rahman and other like minded individuals are not showing any remorse and opposition when it comes to getting finincial and military aid and their leaders being in constant contact and collabration with the government of the United States of America. But on other hand when it comes to Afghanistan American relation than the same Mullahs are raising the question of Islam and dissatisfication with the engagement of Americans with Afghans and Afghan leaders. They then favor the opponent of Afghan government who are becoming the cause of unrest and destruction of Afghanistan. Both individuals refused to extend any help in facilitating the up-coming proposed Jirga due to their opposition to the presence of coalition forces in Afghanistan. They are always contradictory in regards to Pak-Afghan-U.S. relations. They want one thing for Pakistan but another for Afghanistan. They never opposed female participation in different fields of life from education to employment but when it comes to Afghanistan they favored and supported the stand of anti-social elements who opposed such things. They always peacefully participated in their political process through ballet boxes but they incited and supported Afghans equiped with bullets against those with ballet boxes. They are collectors of antiques but they didn't discourage the destruction and looting of Afghan antiques and arts. Therefore they are always indifferent to Afghans and Afghanistan. Qazi Hussian Ahmad Sahib and Moulana Fazal Rahman Sahib and other like-minded religious establishment please as true believers wish the same for your Afghan brothers what you wish for yourselves the Pakistanis. Please encourage your Afghan counterparts to stop killing their own Muslim brothers because you enjoy and can exert alot of influence on them. Please encourage them to take part in their political process rather than their self-imposed isolation. You also are still ruled by the British laws so if you can live your life than why not them under Afghan constitution which declares Afghanistan an Islamic country. If there is peace in Afghanistan than there will be no need for the international coalition army's presence too. As long as there is war and conflict there will be foriegn interference and intermingling so you can help in ending war and conflict in Afghanistan but if you wish the same for your Muslim Afghan brothers and sisters what you wish for your Pakistani brothers and sisters.
