ISLAMABAD: President General Pervez Musharraf has filed a reference against the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), Chaudhry Iftikhar Ahmed under section 209 on Friday.
According to sources, the charges against Chaudhry Ifthikar included misuse of authority and ignorance of merit in some of the decisions made by him.
“It is confirmed. The president has taken the action after numerous complaints and having personally heard the chief justice. He has acted under the constitutional requirement,” Durrani said.
An official statement said Musharraf had appointed Javed Iqbal, another senior judge, to replace Chaudhry. The sacked chief justice was the subject of a legal petition alleging that he obtained his son a position in the police service despite a lack of proper qualifications. The official statement said Musharraf acted “after receiving numerous complaints and serious allegations for misconduct, misuse of authority and actions prejudicial to the dignity of office of the Chief Justice of Pakistan…Earlier on the chief justice was called by the president and the prime minister and confronted with the allegations, in answer to which he could not give any satisfactory reply."

Musharraf has shown his true colors. To kill dog first you need to call it dog.
Who believes that Chief Justice is misused his position to influence to get a police job for his son.
Where is Musharraf son? Similarly chief justice can send his son for USA. Why he not appointed Das has chief Justice?.. Musharraf wants a rubber stamp so what ever the so called law he can twist. My brothers of Pakistan please understand the long term results of a corrupt and outdated general. No law for rich and powerful. If chief justice has not get justice who can expect in you country. It is a sad day for Pakistan. In democrating process, removing a chief justice will be discussed in parliament, take opinion of eminent lawyers, only after 2/3 majority agrees this should be done. I want hear any one who supports Musharraf
