26 killed in suicide attack

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Volunteers shift an injured person to a hospital after a suicide bomber blew himself up inside the ground of police lines at Dera Ismail Khan in NWFP on Sunday. At least twenty-six people, including seven police personnel were killed and scores of others sustained serious injuries.

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Atleast twenty-six people, including seven police personnel were killed and scores of others sustained serious injuries when a suicide bomber blew himself up inside the ground of police lines on Sunday.

The attack was made, when the suicide bomber blew himself up with big bang that was heard distant areas.

The deceased are: Head Constable Habib-ur-Rehman, Constable Munir Ahmed, Constable Muhammad Safdar, Muhammad Jamsheed, Javed, ASI Shah Jehan, candidates appeared for examination: Khuda Bux, Jamil, Muhammad Arif, Muhammad Rafique, Zameer Shah, Sultan, Muhammad Atlas, Abdul Aziz, Muhammad Tousaeef, Ata-ur-Rehman, Muhammad Azam, Abdul Karim, Muhammad Imran while the identity of four persons could not be ascertained.

Sources of District Headquarter DI Khan informed that at least seventeen dead bodies and thirty five injured had been taken to hospital.

DPO Gul Afzal Afridi feared that casualties might increase owing to intensity of the blast as twelve dead bodies had been identified. Emergency has been declared in hospitals, he added.

?Head and some limbs of suicide attacker found in the premises of the ground and police has taken them into custody for investigation,? he maintained.

Fear and panic has prevailed among inhabitants of the area following the suicide attack.

Earlier, on Friday, police had recovered a vehicle full of explosive material and arrested five suspected in this regard whereas two suspects managed to escape from the site. However, during investigation, they unveiled that explosive material would be utilized for attacks in DI Khan.
