ISLAMABAD, Jul 28 (Online): The spokesperson of Foreign office has expressed deep reservations over the recently floated draft bill by US Congress on implementation of 9/11 Recommendations .

The said Bill, despite attaching Pakistan’s “significant status as an ally in war against terrorism” is said to contain references and provisions, which are highly suspicious, casting an accusatory stance at Pakistan .

Allegations and references of “safe havens of Al-Qaeeda “and “proliferation of networks” , alongwith unwarranted references to Pakistan bilateral relations with Afghanistan clutter the text and have been strongly refuted by Pakistani government, and do not augur well for a conducive and trustworthy alliance Conditions attached to aid regarding war against terrorism remind one of Pressler Amendments of yore, and government has voiced its strong concerns to the American Ambassador to Pakistan. The spokesperson reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to fight the growing menace of terrorism and extremism on its soil, in accordance with its policies and needs, and expects sincere and effective cooperation from its allies in eliminating the danger. The FO insisted that both Pakistan and America must work in a cooperative framework to enhance the trust and promotion of strategic cooperation to ensure peace and security in the region .

End.

Without America as a key ally Pakistan should devolve into a nuclear version of Taliban controlled Afghanistan in short order. Or at best an oil poor UN
sanctioned Iran. Neither fate would be very becoming to that great nation, or helpful to the economic interests of the vast majority of Pakistani's. Until the Taliban are cast out of the NW Provinces the future stability of Pakistan's membership in the world community of nations will be in some jeopardy.

the wake up call for Pakistan came and went several times
first being the 1965 war when the US imposed embargo on Pakistan and India knowing the fact that India was getting full support from Russia.
Pakistan should have woken up at that time.
the is a need to make 180 degree turn in Pakistan's foreign policy which should reflect the interest of Pakistan and not the US.
