ISLAMABAD:Pakistan on Saturday successfully test fired a new Air Launched Cruise Missile (ALCM) named Hatf-8 (Ra’ad)).
The indigenously developed Ra’ad (meaning "Thunder" in Arabic), with a range of 350 KMs for now, has been designed exclusively for launch from a variety of Pakistan’s air Platforms, providing these with a strategic stand off capability on land and at sea.
The missile has a low detection probability due to stealth design and materials used in its manufacturing. The Ra’ad can carry all types of warheads and has an accuracy comparable to Pakistan’s longer Babur cruise missile.
President General Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz have congratulated the scientists and engineers involved in the development of the new national strategic capability. Pakistan’s defense will continue to be strengthened as an imperative of national security, they said, and assured all support to Pakistan’s strategic programme.

Pak military has to be very powerful to take charge of affairs of the country internally and against external aggression.
A weak Poland in WW2 caused the real ground war between Russia and Germany even when Hitler and StaliN had signed no war pact. But, with both mighty nations had occupied Poland with the crack forces seeing eye ball to eye ball to each other. Just few ugly incidents between the peace pacted countries caused the start up of real ground war of the WW2 that cuminated into more than 80 percent of casualties of the ground operations or the real war.
Strong Pakistan will keep the mighty ones at bay and Pak military will be the master saviour of the motherland and bulwatrk against any foreign evil eyes.
