ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan began a hunger strike on Monday in the prison where he was sent last week for protesting against the emergency rule, his spokesman told the media.

The spokesman said Imran wanted restoration of the Constitution and reinstatement of the deposed judges. “Imran Khan has gone on hunger strike for an indefinite period,” spokesman Saifullah Niazi said.

Jemima Khan, former wife of Imran Khan, on Monday said Imran has gone on a hunger strike to demand the country’s military ruler to restore independent judges ousted under a state of emergency.

Imran has decided to stop eating or drinking until the Supreme Court justices and other judges from lower courts are given their jobs back, Jemima Khan added. Imran is detained in Dera Ghazi Khan prison.

End.
