WANA: The heavily armed force of Taliban gunmen attacked the Sararogha Fort located in the South Waziristan tribal region and killed some 30 Security Personnel, according to independent sources.

While ISPR says that seven Personnel of Frontier Constabulary and 40 militants were killed when militants attacked the Sararogha Fort located in the South Waziristan tribal region.

Some 1000 armed Taliban launched attack at Sararogha fort Sararogha at about 1:15 am on night between Tuesday and Wednesday from nearby mountains with heavy and automatic weapons and killed upto 30 soldiers, BBC reported and sources in Political administration South Waziristan told Online.

Six militants died while 10 injured in retaliatory action of security forces. The troops also used mortal and arterially shells during the retaliatory action.

After attack, communication of Political administration with the fort was cut. Taliban also claimed to have control of the fort and abducting 10 soldiers after four hours of intense fighting. According to eyewitnesses, the Taliban also took away weapons of security forces in the fort alongwith them.

There were about 40 Paramilitary troops in the fort at the time of attack and seven of them were able to escape while the rest of them are missing and feared dead, according to another report.

After the incident, the security forces have started preparation to launch major operation in Sararogha while people belongs to Masud tribe living in the area have started leaving the areas keeping in view the proposed operation, Private TV Channel reported.

Assistant Political Agent Ludhha Yahya Akhawan Zada confirmed that incident by saying that there had been intense fighting in the area and feared heavy casualties of soldiers.

The military officials told French news agency that the fighting erupted between Taliban and security forces after Taliban tried to take control of fort. There was no official confirmation of any casualties.

According to unconfirmed report, the attack was launched at fort followed by death of three people during the fighting in Sir Moula Khan, area of South Waziristan.

Meanwhile, after the attack, the Political administration has convened jirga of Masud tribe in Tank, adjacent to South Waziristan. Political Agent South Waziristan Fazal-e-Rabbi confirmed that there was 38 Scouts and 500 Civilian were present at the time of attack on fort.

Seven of them among the 38 Scouts were able to reach at Jandola while the rest of them are missing and feared dead. The administration has demanded Masud tribe to release all the abducted soldiers.

The Jirga under the leadership of Former Member National Assembly Maulana Miraj-u-Din is devising strategy in this respect.

Meanwhile ISPR says that seven soldiers were killed in the atttack.

Giving details of the attack, Director General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Maj. General Athar Abbas said that upto 200 militants attacked the fort in the South Waziristan region at about midnight on Tuesday and Wednesday.

There were about 42 Paramilitary troops in the fort at the time of attack, he said, adding that, heavy automatic weapons and arterially shells were used during the fighting which lasted whole night.

DG ISPR added that the militants were able to breach one of the walls of the fort. After entering into the fort, he said, heavy fighting erupted between Personnel of Frontier Constabulary and militants. In the Process, Maj. Gen. Athar Abbas said, 40 militants died and seven FC Personnel embraced martyrdom.

Fifteen soldiers managed to reach at Jandola while 20 were missing and their search is underway, DG ISPR Maj. Athar Abass maintained. There was huge loss of militants during the attack, he pointed out.
