Shujaat offers unconditional support to PPP

LAHORE: PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has said the party accepts Asif Ali Zardari as the president of Pakistan and will extend support to him in running the country`s affairs in time of need.

Talking to the media at his residence here on Wednesday, Shujaat said the PML-Q would continue to play its role as the opposition. He ruled out any change in the Punjab, saying so far there were no chances of any change in the province.

To a question, he said the ongoing ìcold warî between the two parties (the PPP and the PML-N) would convert into a real war if the PML-Q participated in it. ìBut the party would not play any role in it,î he said. To a question about the members of the PML-Qís Forward Bloc, he said there was no bloc within the party. However, he said, "There were some members who were angry with the party leadership and we are trying to convince them to return." To a question about the presidential poll, he said the party accepted the result but stressed Asif Ali Zardari should play his role as the head of the state.

End.
