ISLAMABAD: Central MQM leader, federal minister Babar Khan Ghauri has said that his meeting with Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif should not be seen as a prelude to a Nawaz Sharif-Altaf Hussain meeting. However the PML-N Quaid would be welcomed whenever he comes.
While talking to Geo TV here on Sunday, he stated that during his meeting with CM Punjab, he exchanged views on some ministerial affairs and the ongoing political situation in the country. Mian Shahbaz Sharif has also acknowledged the MQM as a major political party and reiterated to continue the bilateral contact in future.
Babar Khan Ghauri further stated that MQM Chief Altaf Hussain also acknowledged the public mandate of the PML-N and the possibility of political relations should not be ruled out between the parties.
He further reiterated that MQM was an ally of the PPP and committed to the reconciliation policy of PPP co-chairman President Zardari and MQM chief Altaf Hussain. However, some conspiring forces were trying to sabotage this reconciliation policy. Responding to a query, he stated that doors of the MQM remained open for the PML-N chief Mian Nawaz Sharif and he would be welcomed if he visits Karachi.
