SKARDU: Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain on Thursday hinted at parting ways with the government but not to compromise on his principled stand on the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) and other national issues.

He was addressing by telephone a historic election rally organised by the MQM in Skardu. He said the MQM has adopted a principled stand on the NRO and other issues. In future also the MQM would not support any law that goes against its manifesto and the aspirations of the people, Altaf declared.

He said if the MQM had to give up the government to adopt a principled stand, it would do so. He said his party would always stand behind the truth. Thousands of people from adjoining areas participated in the MQM rally in Skardu. Several MQM leaders were also present.

Altaf asked the participants of the rally to pledge that they were all Pakistanis and in future they would not indulge in sectarian conflicts. He said Shias and Sunnis would now join hands to serve the people of the country.

He demanded special seats for students from Gilgit-Baltistan in the educational and training institutions of the country. He said passport offices should be established in all districts of Gilgit-Baltistan. He said the government should take serious notice of the reservations of people of Gilgit-Baltistan about the Bhasha-Diamer Dam and Shandoor Polo Ground. He said If the MQM won the polls, the problems of the area will be addressed on a priority basis. He urged the people to elect MQM candidates.

End.

What do you think about the story?

Read what others have to say

the citizens of Karachi has already suffered to much due to quota system imposed by PPP founder, that's why the progress of Karachi nearly came to halt, here in Karachi seats has been kept in reserve for every province in all the major institutions,as again recently announced by governor of sind while declaring admission policy for medical colleges,MQM never believed in quota system they are themselves victim's of it, now any one can see the face of Karachi though still PPP IS HINDRANCE IN THE WAY AND FROM THE PROGRESS OF Karachi every one is benefiting,so let MQM work to its full strength and see the result. the mayors of MQM in Karachi and Hyderabad has changed the face of entire cities with in two and a half years as in jealousy PPP HAS STOPPED PROVIDING FUNDS TO CITY GOVERNMENTS SINCE ONE AND A HALF YEAR IT WAS THE FORE FATHERS OF MQM followers who built ALIGARH EDUCATION SOCIETY for every one to take education particularly muslin's of sub continent which provided able administrators to run the affairs of newly born country and still all the students from different communities are benefiting from ALIGARH UNIVERSITY.
