I am currently a student in a private school. I would like to ask your prestigious newspaper to shed some light on the bomb threat our school received day before yesterday.
During our fifth period, we were told to evacuate the school premises as there had been a call lodged with 115. The police and bomb disposal squad were at our school gate by the time we got out. After a very nerve shattering hour, the bomb squad had thoroughly and efficiently swept the building and declared it safe.
I would like to show my gratitude and admiration in the strongest of words for the police and bomb disposal squad for their quick and efficient work. However I would like to bring to your attention the school’s official statement on the incident, which called it nothing more than a drill.
The school actually tried to cover it up. If it was not an actual threat and the school was in fact carrying out a drill, the school should have informed our parents. Secondly, if it was just a drill, how did the school get the police and bomb squad to be a part of this drill? Even I know better that the police and bomb squad might have more pressing and important responsibilities to carry out than to take part in a private drill for my school.
All I am asking for is the truth. Yes, there is a real threat to schools and the administration of schools should work with their students rather than hide things from us.
