ISLAMABAD : former General (r) Mirza Aslam Baig has said that it was a fact that balance of power has been transferred from Islamabad to General Headquarter, however, there is no threat to PPP led government and office of President.

While speaking in a private TV Channel program, Gen (r) Aslam Baig said that role of army on several issues such as long march, concerns on Kerry Lugar Bill, sacrifices rendered by army in Waziristan, Dir and Bajaur operation for restoring the writ of government clearly reveals that balance of power have been transferred from Islamabad to GHQ.

He said that US has also realized this fact and US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had spent more than four hours with the Army Leadership on the occasion of her recent visit to Pakistan.

He further said that country cannot afford mid-term election. There exist other options, which are under consideration.

He said that President Asif Ali Zardari has lost confidence among the masses. The only solution of the problems of masses is that President Asif Ali Zardari should transfer his power to the parliament.

End.
