MQM says PPP ignoring it after NRO stand

LAHORE: PML-Q President Ch Shujaat Hussain has said NRO affectees including those involved in corruption and criminal cases should be dealt separately.

Addressing a press conference at his residence here Saturday, he said the courts should give timetable to decide their cases on emergency basis. He was of the view that NRO beneficiary politicians should resign from their posts immediately and face the courts.

He expressed hope that courts would do justice to them. He claimed that majority of the cases against MQM are of criminal nature which were political motivated.

He said the government had confused the masses through releasing mixed list of criminal and corruption cases. He said it would take years to decide around 8000 cases. He said the list had proved that there was not a single name of any PML-Q leader or member of their family in the list.

Shujaat said objective of the NRO was political reconciliation but they had deliberately got omitted their tenure from it. He said if they had done any wrong, they must have benefited from the NRO. He said it was a deal between former president Pervez Musharraf and the PPP. He was of the view that there was no reason to doubt impartiality of the judiciary.

He said the Balochistan package was not enough to resolve problems and their recommendations should be incorporated in the package to get positive results.

APP adds: Meanwhile, talking to the news agency, PML-Q Secretary General Mushahid Hussain welcomed the government initiative of making the NRO beneficiaries’ list public.

He said since prime minister stands on a high moral ground, as he has not benefitted from NRO, it is now upto him to go for some political ‘loadshedding’.

Talking to a private television channel, Mushahid appealed to Prime Minister Gilani to seek resignation from Interior Minister Rehman Malik and Defense Minister Ahmad Mukhtar. He said release of the list has affected credibility of the government.

End.
