SRINAGAR: Two militants and an Indian soldier were killed during a gunfight along the Line of Control (LoC), the Indian military said on Sunday. “The fighting erupted late on Saturday when a group of militants tried to cross the LoC in Poonch district,” an army spokesman said, claiming that soldiers had foiled an infiltration bid.
The latest clash came as regional police chief Kuldeep Khuda told reporters late Saturday night that about 700 militants were active in Indian-held Kashmir. Khuda said the number of active militants included people who had earlier surrendered to troops.
