ISLAMABAD: Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Sohail Ahmad has said that a special recovery campaign is being launched from restaurants and bakery owners and caterers from the first of next month.
Talking to this correspondent here, he made it clear that there shall be no more extension in the deadline to review the tax returns. Therefore the revised income and sales tax returns are supposed to be submitted by the 31st of the current month. After the deadline action shall begin against the defaulters.
The FBR chief said a list of about 200 defaulters who had made no payments or part payments had already been finalised. The list includes individuals and associations of Persons from Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Quetta, Multan, Gujranwala. Faisalabad, Sialkot and Sukkur.
He vowed to recover sales tax dues pertaining to previous years from organizations, which had failed to get them registered. Severe action under rules would also follow against organisations, which had not cleared their dues in full.
Sohail Ahmad spoke about tax management on the part of the officers of the area. They shall depute special teams in the tax default organizations, make assessments and impose taxes. The FBR shall ensure recovery of 16% tax of the total turn over of the organisation
