ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday night held a consultative session with his legal and political team to discuss the legal issues relating to the Supreme Court order on the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO).

Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani also attended the meeting. Zardari and Gilani had also held a similar session with their legal and political team on Wednesday night and the focus of the meeting was the verdict of the Supreme Court.

Sources said they had decided to wait for the detailed judgment of the apex court. The sources said it was also decided to hold the consultative meetings with the coalition partners in this regard. Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dr Babar Awan, Water and Power Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and Food and Agriculture Minister Nazar Muhammad Gondal were also present on the occasion.

Meanwhile, addressing a meeting of the party MNAs, MPAs and office-bearers from the Multan Division at the Presidency, Zardari asked the party workers and leaders to work dedicatedly for the service of the people and the strengthening of democracy, and not be deflected by opponents of the party. Gilani also attended the meeting.

The meeting passed a unanimous resolution, reposing confidence in the leadership of PPP Co-chairman and President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari. The interaction was part of the consultative meetings the president has been holding with the party leaders from different divisions of the country to discuss issues of national interest.

The participants of the meeting spoke mostly on the latest situation and expressed their views about the course of action the party should adopt. Interior Minister Rehman Malik; Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Dr Babar Awan; Minister for Water and Power Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and Minister for Food and Agriculture Nazar Muhammad Gondal were also present, besides Leader of the House in the Senate Nayyar Hussain Bokhari, PPP Secretary-General Jehangir Badr, Rukhsana Bangash, Fauzia Wahab, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mehreen Anwar Raja and spokesperson for the president Farhatullah Babar.
