ISLAMABAD, January 21 (Online): Nation would celebrate Eid ul Azha with traditional zeal and religious fervour today (Friday).

The day would dawn would special Eid sermons where Ulema will stress for unity of Muslim Ummah and prayers will be held for the prosperity and well being of the country. The largest Eid Congregation in the federal capital would be held at Faisal Mosque.

To celebrate Eid-ul-Azha, Muslims sacrifice animals including cow, goat, sheep and camel according to their purchasing power on any of the three days of Eid. People this year have suffered a lot due to the mounting prices of the sacrificial animals.

Around 100 slaughtering points have been set up in different places of federal capital for the convenience of the people.

Mostly workers living in the federal capital have gone to their villages to celebrate Eid with their families but there is still lot of hustle and bustle in the federal capital.

The administration has further beefed up the security for Eid. A contingency plan has been issued to ensure and maintain law and order, safety and security of the general public.

Special security measures have been made for Eid shopping centers, Chand Raat and Eid congregations. Patrolling in the federal capital has been further intensified to avert any untoward situation.

Eid ul Azha symbolizes supreme sacrifices of Hazrat Ibrahim:  Pervaiz

Punjab Chief Minister, Ch. Pervaiz Elahi has said Eid ul Azha symbolizes the supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) for earn of blessings of Allah. He said there is a need for reviving the same spirit and giving precedence to collective interests over personal ones.

In his message on Eid ul Azha, the Chief Minister said that all our acts and deeds should be subservient to the will of Allah Almighty. He said this religious festival is also a symbol of the unity and solidarity of Muslim Ummah.

He said that on this auspicious occasion we should sink all our petty differences and prejudices and share our Eid joys with our poor and destitute brethren. He said there is a need to display the same spirit of sacrifice throughout the year.

Musharraf, Shaukat to observe Eid in Islamabad

President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz would be spending first day of Eid-ul-Azha  in the Capital while other key politicians would be spending Eid at their native cities or abroad.

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz would be offering his Eid Prayers at Prime Minister House while President Musharraf would be offering prayers at General Head Quarters Rawalpindi.

Former Senator Asif Ali Zardari would be observing Eid in Dubai with his spouse Benazir Bhutto. Exiled former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would be spending his Eid in Jeddah while Opposition leader Maulana Fazl ur Rehman and MMA leader Qazi Hussain Ahmed performed Hajj and observed Eid in Saudi Arabia.
