Maj Gen Mukhtar Ahmed made new Col Commandant AJK regiment RAWALPINDI, Sept 28 (Online): An impressive ceremony of installation of a new colonel commandant of Azad Kashmir Regiment was held at Azad Kashmir Regimental center, Mansar camp Wednesday . Vice chief of Army staff, General Ahsan Saleem Hayat who was chief guest on the occasion pinned the badges of rank of colonel commandant on the shoulders of Major General Mukhtar Ahmed . Speaking on this occasion, General Ahsan Saleem Hyat lauded the contributions of outgoing colonel commandant, Lieutenant General Javed Hasan (Retd) and paid rich tributes to the Shuhada and Ghazis of Azad Kashmir Regiment . He highly appreciated the contribution of Azad Kashmir Regiment during peace and war . In his welcome address, center commandant, Brigadier Zafar Wahla highlighted the history and achievements of Azad Kashmir Regiment . Large number of senior serving and retired officers, junior commissioned officers and Jawans of the Azad Kashmir Regiment attended the ceremony . Earlier vice chief of Army staff visited the Yaadgar-e-Shuhada, where he offered Fateha and laid a floral wreath to pay homage to all those who gave supreme sacrifices in the defence of the motherland .
