RIYADH, November 03 (Online): Saudi Arabia and all Gulf countries will celebrate Eid ul Fitar on Thursday (today).
According to a notification, it was decided in a meeting of Ruet-e-Hillal Committee that Eid ul Fitar will be celebrated in Saudi Arabia and Gulf countries with utmost religious serenity and austerity on Thursday (today) after the loss of thousands of precious lives in the killer earthquake on October 8.
In Pakistan, a meeting of central Ruet-e-Hilal committee for sighting the moon of Shawal (Eid-ul-Fitr), 1426 Hijri will be held today (Thursday) in the building of Saudi Pak tower, Blue area, Islamabad.
The spokesman of Pakistan Meteorological Department has informed that there are bright chances of sighting the new moon of Shawal, 1426 Hijri on today (Thursday) evening subject to confirmation by the central Ruet-e-Hilal committee.
Therefore, the first day of Shawal would fall on 4 Nov 2005. As such, Inshaallah, Eid-ul-Fitr would be observed in the country on Friday, 4 Nov 2005.
While elaborating the technical aspects, he informed that the following threshold values of astronomical parameters are essential for the possibility of sighting the new moon of Shawal.
Age of the new moon should be more than 25 hours at the time of twilight for sighting the new moon of Shawal, whereas this time it is, off course more than 35 hours throughout the country.
Minimum duration of the new moon after sunset should more than 41 minutes whereas at this occasion, it is mostly more than 45 minutes all over the country.
The angle of the new moon at the time of sunset and civil twilight is more than 5 degree and 2 degree respectively, which is also a favourable factor for sighting the new moon of Shawal. End.
