LAHORE – Police on Friday arrested Sher Shah Khan, the second son of Aleema Khan, from her residence in Lahore, only a day after his brother Shahrez Khan was detained. The move has further intensified tensions surrounding the family of former prime minister Imran Khan.
According to officials, the arrest was carried out as part of investigations linked to cases stemming from the May 9 unrest. Law enforcement sources stated that individuals allegedly connected to incidents of violence and attacks on state property are being taken into custody under ongoing directives.
Leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) strongly condemned the arrest, calling it politically motivated and an attempt to exert pressure on the former premier’s family. Party representatives described the move as “unjust” and argued that such actions represent a continuation of what they term a campaign of political victimization.
Police officials, however, defended the operation, asserting that no one found involved in unlawful activities will be exempt from accountability. They maintained that all suspects would be produced before the courts and dealt with according to the law.
The successive arrests of Aleema Khan’s sons have sparked renewed debate about the broader crackdown against PTI supporters, raising questions about the use of law enforcement powers in the current political climate.
