KARACHI, Pakistan – In a heartwarming yet challenging turn of events, a couple from Baldia Town has been blessed with quintuplets—three girls and two boys—delivered prematurely at 29 weeks through an emergency C-section.
The newborns, born under critical conditions with underdeveloped lungs and extremely low birth weights, are currently being treated in a neonatal intensive care unit, requiring continuous oxygen and round-the-clock medical care.
The father, Adnan Sheikh, who works as a private-sector driver, expressed both joy and concern. “It’s a huge blessing from Allah, but I don’t have the means to bear the heavy cost of their treatment,” he said while appealing for public and government support.
Medical staff report slight improvements in the babies’ condition, though doctors remain cautious. Experts note that premature births of this nature carry a high risk of complications, including respiratory distress and infections, requiring long-term, specialized care.
The rare quintuplet birth has sparked widespread attention across the city, with many praising the resilience of the family and the efforts of the medical team.
