HANGU: A notorious drug peddler was killed in an armed encounter with police in Doaba area on Sunday, bringing an end to a criminal record that stretched across multiple cases. The suspect, identified as Saifuddin, had recently kidnapped a schoolboy, subjecting the child to brutal assaults under the influence of drugs.
According to police officials, Saifuddin was wanted in at least 13 different cases, ranging from narcotics trade to violent crimes. Acting on intelligence, a special team led by District Police Officer Jehanzeb Mohmand, SP Investigations, DSP Thall and SHO Doaba raided the suspect’s hideout.
As the police stormed the house, the accused opened fire on the raiding party, triggering a fierce exchange of gunfire. Saifuddin was fatally shot in the retaliation. The kidnapped boy was safely recovered, though doctors confirmed his condition remains critical due to the abuse he endured. He has been shifted to hospital for urgent treatment.
DPO Mohmand vowed that criminals dealing in narcotics and endangering innocent lives would be given no room to operate. “No one involved in drug trade or heinous crimes will escape justice. Our mission is to protect the lives and property of the people of Hangu,” he said.
Regional Police Officer Abbas Majeed Marwat also commended the swift action of the district police, calling it part of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police’s ongoing campaign to eliminate criminal networks and strengthen public safety.
The incident has sent ripples through the local community, many of whom see the operation as a stern message to those involved in the narcotics business and related crimes.
