KARACHI: Actor Mehwish Hayat has revealed she never had the chance to work with the late playwright Haseena Moin.
“Haseena’s passing is a loss for the whole country,” she said. “Her plays were groundbreaking, especially in the portrayal of women.”
Haseena, one of Pakistan’s most celebrated playwrights, passed away on Friday aged 79. Her death filled social media with grief, with politicians and celebrities sharing memories associated with her and her dramas.
“My one regret is that I never got the chance to work with her,” Mehwish said, adding the kind of work she produced is not seen in the industry anymore.
“Saddened to hear the loss of our great writer Haseena Moin sahiba,” said Senator Faisal Javed Khan. “She was my mother’s favourite writer.”
Haseena Moin, who created such world-class life stories, is no more,” said Andleeb Abbas.
