TEL AVIV: Israel and Morocco have agreed to normalise relations making Morocco the fourth Arab country to set aside hostilities with Israel in the past four months.
Under the agreement, US President Donald Trump has agreed to recognise Morocco’s sovereignty over the disputed Western Sahara region which is subject of a dispute between Morocco and Algeria-backed Polisario Front seeking to establish an independent state there.

Meanwhile, in a statement the UN Secretary General's spokesman said the world body's position on Western Sahara remains unchanged despite the deal.

Morocco is the fourth country in the Arab world to officially agree to normalize ties with Israel under Trump’s “Abraham Accords.” The other countries that have normalized ties are the UAE, Bahrain, and Sudan.
