National squad tests negative for COVID-19 ahead of New Zealand tour

LAHORE:: The national squad, scheduled to travel on November 23, has tested for COVID-19.

The COVID-19 tests for the 55-member contingent, 35 players and 20 officials, involved were conducted on Saturday at a local hotel in Lahore.

Note, the squad will depart for Lincoln on November 23 where they will spend the mandatory 14-day quarantine period.

For the first three days, players will remain isolated completely. The members will be divided into different groups of 15 for the rest of the quarantine period. They won’t be allowed to interact with individuals of other groups.

The men’s team will play three T20Is and two Tests while Shaheens will play five T20s and two four-day matches.

Babar Azam will lead the men’s team in T20Is and Tests. His vice-captain in Tests will be Mohammad Rizwan, while Shadab will be the vice-captain. Rohail Nazir will lead the Shaheens while his deputy will be Haider Ali.
