ISLAMABAD: Pakistan offered second consular access to India on the issue of kulbhushan jadhav and said that under the ICJ decision, a new ordinance was issued, under section 20 of the ordinance, Kulbhushan Jadhav could file a review appeal.
DG South Asia Zahid Hafeez and Additional Attorney General Ahmed Irfan held a joint press conference. DG South Asia Zahid Sheikh said in a media briefing that India had approached the ICJ on the issue of Kulbhushan Jadhav who has been involved in sabotage in Pakistan and has confessed to terrorism.
Pakistan took several steps as per the decision of ICJ, including consular access as per the decision of International Court of Justice.
Zahid Sheikh said that after the ICJ's decision, the RAW agent was informed about the consular access. In September, an official of the Indian High Commissioner also met Kulbhushan Jadhav
He said that the legal aspects of Kulbhushan Jadhav sentence were being reviewed under the ICJ decision, adding that a new ordinance was issued on May 20 under the ICJ decision.
DG South Asia said that under Section 20 of the Ordinance, Kulbhushan Yadav could file a review appeal. On June 17, Kulbhushan Jadhav was asked to file a review appeal. Legal assistance was also allowed for RAW Agent Yadav.
Zahid Sheikh said that Pakistan had repeatedly asked India to assist Yadav in the review appeal, adding that the six-month special ordinance was coming to an end and India was reluctant to help in the review appeal.
He further said that Kulbhushan has also been allowed to meet his wife and father. Pakistan's law gives him the right to review the decision. Howeever Kulbhushan Jadhav has denied the right to review the decision. Pakistan in the Kulbhushan case is ready to implement the court's decision.
