RAWALPINDI: Director General of the ISPR Major General Babar Iftikhar says Pakistan decided to release Indian pilot Abhinandan from the position of strength as a responsible state.

Addressing a news conference in Rawalpindi on Thursday, he said a statement was given yesterday about the release of Abhinandan in a bid to distort the facts.

The ISPR DG said this statement is tantamount to make controversial Pakistani nation's victory against Indian aggression in February last year. He said such negative narrative has direct impact on national security.

Major General Babar Iftikhar said Pakistan's decision to release Abhinandan was taken as a gesture of peace in the light of Geneva Convention, which was widely hailed in the world.

The DG ISPR said Pakistan demonstrated well its resolve and capability in response to Indian aggression. He said India violated the international laws after the Pulwama attack, and India had to lick the dust due to Pakistan's effective response. He said Pakistan shot down two Indian fighter jets and arrested Indian pilot Abhinandan.
