MOSCOW: A peace conference on Afghanistan is being held in Moscow on Thursday in which high-level delegations from Afghan government and the Taliban as well as representative of the United States, Pakistan, Qatar and China are attending the conference.
The chairman of Afghanistan's High Council for National Reconciliation Abdullah Abdullah will lead Afghan government delegation while Taliban delegation will be led by deputy leader Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar.
The U.S. State Department has confirmed that Zalmay Khalilzad will attend the talks
The conference is aimed at to break the impasse in talks on a political settlement in the war-torn country.
