President asks to formulate drug policy for higher education institutions

ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi has asked the Higher Education Commission to formulate a drug policy for higher education institutions by March next year to save students from narcotics and provide them healthy learning environment.

He was chairing a meeting of Committee on Drug Abuse and Welfare of Differently-abled-Students in Islamabad today (Thursday).

The President asked the Commission to initiate measures for the welfare of differently-abled-students providing them waiver in tuition fees, special transportation facility within educational institutions and relaxation in age.

The meeting emphasized the need to raise awareness among youth engaging social workers, media, NGOs and civil society against drug use.
