UN warns, sanctions on Myanmar should target coup leaders, not people

GENEVA: The United Nations has warned that any sanctions imposed over the coup in Myanmar must be carefully targeted against those responsible to avoid harming vulnerable people.

Speaking before Human Rights Council in Geneva, the UN's Deputy Rights Chief, Nada al-Nashif expressed concern after Washington announced the sanctions on the military Generals who were behind last week's coup in Myanmar.
