Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has reiterated that the Kingdom will not permit its airspace or territory to be used for any military action against Iran, stressing Riyadh’s commitment to regional stability and de-escalation.
The crown prince made the remarks during a phone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, where he emphasised that Saudi Arabia seeks to prevent conflict in the region and supports resolving disputes through dialogue and diplomatic engagement rather than military confrontation.
He stated that Saudi Arabia’s position is rooted in respect for sovereignty and the desire to avoid being drawn into any escalation that could further destabilise the Middle East. The Kingdom, he said, remains focused on promoting peace and security through political and diplomatic channels.
The statement comes amid heightened tensions surrounding Iran’s nuclear programme and growing speculation about possible military action in the region. Recent warnings and strong rhetoric from international actors have raised concerns about the risk of confrontation, particularly involving Gulf states.
Saudi officials have consistently maintained that the Kingdom does not wish to be part of any conflict and will not allow its territory to be used as a launchpad for attacks against neighbouring countries. Observers view the stance as part of Riyadh’s broader effort to recalibrate regional relations and reduce long-standing tensions with Tehran.
Iranian authorities welcomed the Saudi position, describing it as a constructive step toward preventing conflict and encouraging stability in the region. Analysts say such statements from key regional players could help lower tensions at a time of significant uncertainty in Middle Eastern politics.
