PESHAWAR — Security forces killed 34 terrorists in a series of intelligence-based operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa between October 13 and 15, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The operations targeted militants affiliated with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), referred to by security agencies as “Fitna-al-Khawarij.”
The operations were conducted in North Waziristan, South Waziristan, and Bannu districts as part of ongoing counterterrorism efforts.
- In the Spinwam area of North Waziristan, troops engaged militants in an intense exchange of fire, killing 18 terrorists.
- In South Waziristan, 8 militants were neutralised during a separate encounter.
- Another operation in Bannu district resulted in the deaths of 8 more militants.
The ISPR stated that sanitisation operations are continuing in these areas to eliminate any remaining hostile elements. These actions are part of Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, a broader campaign launched to root out terrorism and ensure long-term stability in the region.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the armed forces for their effective response, reaffirming the government’s commitment to maintaining national security and territorial integrity.
