NEW YORK / FLORIDA, USA: Former U.S. President Donald Trump has taken fresh legal action against The New York Times, its journalists, and publishing giant Penguin Random House, demanding a staggering $15 billion in damages over what he terms “false and malicious” reporting.
The lawsuit, filed in a Florida court, alleges that the Times and its writers deliberately sought to damage Trump’s reputation through articles and a book titled Lucky Loser: How Donald Trump Squandered His Father’s Fortune and Created the Illusion of Success. Trump’s legal team claims the content was riddled with “reprehensible distortions” and published with “actual malice” aimed at discrediting him politically and financially.
The complaint also accuses the newspaper of contributing to the decline in Trump Media & Technology Group’s stock price, inflicting direct financial harm. In addition, Trump pointed to several pre-election articles and editorials which, according to him, unfairly attacked his fitness for public office and distorted his business record.
Taking to his platform Truth Social, Trump branded the New York Times as the “mouthpiece of the Radical Left Democrats,” vowing to challenge what he described as years of unfair and biased coverage. Neither the Times nor Penguin Random House has yet issued an official response.
This lawsuit comes as part of a broader campaign by Trump to target media outlets. In recent months, he has launched similar multibillion-dollar suits, including one against The Wall Street Journal for $10 billion, underscoring his aggressive pushback against the press as he continues to dominate political headlines.
