WASHINGTON: The US President Joe Biden has announced an end to support for offensive operations in Yemen and a freeze on troop redeployments from Germany, reversing two Trump administration policies.

He announced this in his first major foreign policy address at the State Department and recommitted to global alliances and international institutions including the World Health Organization.

Biden said that he was ending US support for the military offensive in Yemen, calling it a humanitarian and strategic catastrophe.

He said we will repair our alliances and engage with the world once again.
