GILGIT: Muhammad Ali Sadpara, the famous Pakistani mountain climber is still missing along with his companions since February 5 during the expedition to— the world's second-highest mountain, K2.

Three climbers — the famous Pakistani mountain climber Muhammad Ali Sadpara, John Snorri from Iceland and Jp Mohr Prieto from Chile —left for final summit attack on 5th February 12:00 AM and it takes up to 14 hours to reach the top, but are still missing.

There is no 100% confirmed news if they summited, their current status or plans.
The three, along with Ali’s 22-year-old son, Sajid Ali Sadpara left Camp 3 for their summit push around 23:00 on Thursday, February 4, 2021. They planned on moving quickly, hoping to summit around  14:00 on Friday, 5th February, just before the next wave of high winds was predicted to hit the summit. They reached the Bottleneck when Sajid had a trouble with his oxygen regulator and had to return to Camp 3. He sent back alone, while the three men, most likely, continued higher. This was the last report of their status. Sajid waited at Camp 3 for over a day. He did a short search but with no O’s and not acclimatized without it, it was very dangerous. He found no trace or saw headlamps on his sortie.

Ali Sadpara celebrated his 45th birthday at K2 Base Camp on February 2 before he started the summit bid.

The Pakistan Army has embarked a search operation. Ali’s son, Sajid Sadpara, also took part in this rescue operation.

On February 6, two Pakistani military helicopter reach 7,000-meters, between C2 and C3 but find nothing. They return to Skardu due to high winds.

On February 7th,  another helicopter with a higher operating ceiling up to 7,800-meter searches near K2’s shoulder but cannot sight the climbers or proof. Photos are taken to be inspected at Base Camp and elsewhere looking for evidence fo the missing climbers.
