COVID-19 vaccine to be available in Pakistan in coming weeks: SPAM
ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SPAM) on Health, Dr Faisal Sultan, has said that the first batch of COVID-19 vaccine will be available in Pakistan in the first quarter of the year 2021.
As per media reports, Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) approved two coronavirus vaccines last week including Sinopharm which is manufactured in China and Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine.
Dr Faisal Sultan, in an interview with a private TV channel, stated that priority would be given to front line doctors and medical staff who are directly dealing with COVID-19 infected patients and the people above sixty five years of age.
However, the Special Advisor also urged the public to adopt the standard operating procedures (SOPs), to protect the family members from the contagious virus.
Dr. Faisal Sultan added that the vaccine will be available to people free of cost.
Earlier in December 2020, SPAM shared a tweet and said “the government is in touch with three companies for purchasing the coronavirus vaccine."
