Final decision about reopening educational institutions today

ISLAMABAD: With country experiencing second wave of coronavirus, education ministers of all provinces will today decide over reopening educational institutions.

According to details, an Inter-Provincial Education Ministers Conference (IPEMC) will be held today via video link, chaired by Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood and attended by education ministers from all four provinces.

The meeting will discuss the existing situation due to coronavirus pandemic and will take a final call regarding reopening of educational institutions across the country.

The attendees of meeting with also discuss board exams scheduled to be held in the end of May and beginning of June, whereas limiting summer vacations is also on agenda.

Punjab government has proposed to reopen schools, colleges and universities in three phases, with primary schools being first in line to open this time around.

Pakistan has reported 39 coronavirus deaths and 1,895 new positive cases in one day.

According to National Command and Control Center (NCOC), around 2,895 cases of coronavirus were reported while 39 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 10,350.

The total number of confirmed cases reached to 488,529.
