Govt announces to form National Coordination Committee & Provincial Authorities to uplift Tourism

ISLAMABAD: The government has announced to form the National Coordination Committee on Tourism and provincial tourism authorities to uplift the sector by enhancing the coordination between the centre and federating units.

The decision was made at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad.

The meeting decided to formulate a comprehensive waste management plan and introducing standard travelling facilities in cooperation with the private sector.

The Prime Minister was told that a National Tourism Strategy 2020-2030 had been finalized to uplift the tourism sector.

A national calendar of events has als been designed to hold multiple events besides setting uniform standards for every sector related to tourism.

Speaking at a high-level meeting on promotion of tourism in the country in Islamabad, Prime Minister Imran Khan says Pakistan has immense tourism potential and our aim is to develop tourist spots, reflective of our culture and social values. 

He said promotion of tourism will accelerate the economic process and create employment opportunities for the people.

The Prime Minister directed that a strategy and plan for the promotion and development of tourist destinations should be launched immediately.

He also stressed the need to take effective measures for positive utilization of state owned properties, including historical buildings, guest houses, and governor houses.                   

On the directions of the Prime Minister, it was decided to set up a National Coordination Committee for promotion of Tourism and to improve inter-provincial interaction and coordination. 

It was also decided to establish tourism authority in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at the earliest.

The Prime Minister directed that meetings of the NCC should be held regularly for promotion of tourism.
