Govt may reimpose lockdown after Eid if SOP violations continue: Dr Zafar Mirza

ISLAMABAD: Dr Zafar Mirza said that people are understanding that Corona was only till Eid, SOPs are not being implemented, if the situation remains the same then the government may consider tightening the lockdown.

Dr. Zafar Mirza, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Health, has expressed grave concern over non-compliance of government SOPs during Eid-ul-Fitr. He said that along with the cases of corona virus in Pakistan, the number of deaths is also increasing. If precautions are not taken, the disease will spread more rapidly.

Giving a media briefing in Islamabad, he said that 37,700 patients were undergoing treatment across the country while 112 corona patients were on ventilator. In the last 24 hours, 34 people have been killed in Pakistan. He said that the number of more than 5.5 million corona cases and deaths worldwide has exceeded 346,000.

Dr. Zafar Mirza said that this disease is gradually increasing. The people are not taking precautions. If such a situation persists, the government may consider tightening the lockdown. The government will review the situation after Eid.
